Minutes of a meeting of the Planning Committee held at Carillon Cottage on Saturday 31 December, 2011 at 9.30 a.m.

AGENDA

Mr and Mrs Buckingham attended and participated in the discussion regarding WD/2011/2666/F.

5.      To consider licence and planning applications received and make recommendations
Premises Licence - New Application WK/201110134 – Wadhurst Service Station
We object to the grant of a 24-hour licence for opening hours, the sale of alcohol and late night refreshments, given that the service station is in a residential area.  We believe that granting a licence for the hours from 11.00pm – 5.00am may give rise to a public nuisance of noise and commercial activity in this location. 
We would, however, have no objection to the grant of a licence for opening and the sale of alcohol for the hours between 5.00am and 11.00pm.

WD/2011/2666/F for DAVIES PLACE, SPARROWS GREEN, WADHURST TN5 6TE; CHANGE OF USE AND CONVERSION OF FORMER GRAIN STORE BUILDING TO FORM A SINGLE DWELLINGHOUSE
We have no objection in principle to the conversion of this building to residential use, indeed we welcome the addition of a smaller residential property in the village.  Since we support the building of quality accommodation, we have some concerns about the lack of natural lighting in the proposed building and about the potential pollution from adjoining properties.
WD/2011/2637/F for LAMPLIGHTERS, WADHURST ROAD, MARK CROSS TN6 3PF; REPLACE EXISTING TREE DAMAGED GARAGE WITH A WOODEN TWO CAR GARAGE.
No objection (on the assumption that the new garage is on the site of the previous one, which is not clear from the plans).

WD/2011/2738/F for 14 OSMERS HILL, WADHURST TN5 6QJ; SIDE EXTENSION AT FIRST FLOOR LEVEL ONLY
No objection.

7.      To discuss actions relating to Localism Act
We discussed Neighbourhood Planning under the provisions of the Act.  Cllr Standley will enquire whether WDC is able to give us pilot status, and Cllr Konrad will research and circulate useful material and websites on community planning.  We also discussed the desirability of involving members of the parish who are not on the Parish Council in the process, and consequently identifying such individuals.

8.      Urgent issues at the discretion of the Chairman for noting
The chairman thanked the committee for their work during 2011 and wished them a Happy New Year.
The meeting closed at 10.40am.
